Introducing the city called as Chikhaldara

On the drive up to nearly 4000 foot high plateau on which Chikhaldara sprawls, you will suddenly come across two windmills whirring away, as if in welcome. And then, you might just see a teen sail past you, strapped to a parachute.

Chikhaldara is an evolution of keechak – dhara, the original name. It’s named after keechak, who bhim is said to have slain and thrown into the valley below. The point marking this event is called Bhimkund, and the tank where keechak’s blood off his hands is not very far away. Keep an eye on monkeys as they will try and steel away when you travel with cheap flight tickets from Lucknow to Mumbai. 

Taking a cue from other Indian hill stations, Chikhaldara, too, has numerous viewpoints. Start off at Panchool point which is at a distance of 4 kms from Bir Lake., because sounds apparently echo five times from here. Devi point is also worth a visit, though not so much for view as much as for the temple consecrated to the local goddess, housed in a cave here. And whether you visit hurricane point or mozari point, make it prospect point for sunset when travelling with low airfare from Lucknow to Mumbai. 

There is more to this place, though. The government gardens in the center of the town have clearly labeled trees, machans, a mini train, a raised walkway and even tiger conversation films aired on  special request.
